Betelgeuse - The Dying Red Star by Bari Demers

The Big News about Betelgeuse:

Betelgeuse lies 640 light-years away within the Orion Constellation. The massive red star is the eighth brightest making it only second to its neighbor Rigel. Our Supergiant has now reached it's end, exausting the production of nuclear fusion and causing a gravitational collapse, reaching its new life of a Supernova. The Supernova will be so luminous we may even see it here on Earth.
It's not expected to go Supernova within 2012 as we like it to do, but it actually may take another million years. But it sure would be amazing to see Betelgeuse go Supernova in our life time.
